We are happy to report that the 1st Sudan Water Project well has been drilled! Sadly, we didn't find water when drilling at our original location in Limi, but we did get to drill the well in Leke. Leke is another small village who desperately needed clean water. They have approximately 55 households (500+ people), without a school or a hospital/medical clinic.

Thank you all for your support! Sudan Water Project's goal for 2011 is to fund a medical clinic in the village of Wudu from the ground up. We will also be providing income for the clinic medical and clerical staff.  If you are interested in helping fund this project, please contact us at sudanwaterproject@gmail.com or call 425-330-9719.

~Jordan and Rishelle

Many people in the developing world, usually women and children, walk more than three hours every day to find water that is likely to make them sick.  Those hours are crucial, preventing many from working or attending school.  Additionally, collecting water puts them at greater risk of sexual harassment and assault.  Children are especially vulnerable to the consequences of unsafe water. Of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, 90% are children under 5 years old.

Sudan is the largest nation in Africa, covering nearly 1 million square miles.  This is comparable to the entire western United States.
